The consequences of climate change

It's bad

In the third article of our climate science series, we look at the consequences of climate change — and they're bad.

Rising global temperatures are causing more frequent and severe weather events: heatwaves, floods, droughts, and storms. Sea levels are rising, threatening coastal communities worldwide. Ecosystems are being disrupted, with species struggling to adapt to rapidly changing conditions.

The impacts aren't evenly distributed. The world's poorest and most vulnerable communities are being hit hardest, despite contributing the least to the problem.

But it's not too late to act. Every fraction of a degree of warming we prevent makes a difference. The science is clear: urgent, dramatic action is needed now to limit the worst impacts.

In our next article, we'll look at what we can all do to help.
