What is Carbon Offsetting?

Understanding carbon offsetting and how it works

What is Carbon Offsetting?

Carbon offsetting is a way for individuals to balance out their carbon footprint by contributing to projects that actively remove carbon from the atmosphere or prevent emissions from occurring.

Every day, our activities — from driving to work, heating our homes, and buying goods — release carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. While reducing our emissions should always be the first priority, carbon offsetting provides a way to compensate for the emissions we can't yet avoid.

Carbon offset projects take many forms: planting trees that absorb CO2, investing in renewable energy to replace fossil fuels, or supporting innovative technologies that capture carbon directly from the air.

Through Zero Carbon Projects, we make it easy for our customers to contribute to verified offset projects. Every contribution helps move us closer to a net-zero future while improving your GreenScore.
